Looking for a special day?
You do everything to make yourself look perfect the right ensemble, perfect hair; everything’s good. Except for one thing; that zit on your chin. But before you exasperatedly get ready to pop that annoying little boil, here’s a word of advice from Dr Nikhat regarding the various myths surrounding pimples.
Popping pimples is a big no-no, as it can leave a dark spot which may last for days, weeks or even months. While a spot corrector, containing benzoyl peroxide, can be an option if pimples come up once in a while, it won’t work if the acne is widespread or frequent. One also needs to prevent new ones from cropping up. And washing with plain water, myriad soaps, cleansers or sweating out toxins to “clear the pores” would not be of any help.
How to overcome pimples Problem:
Acne is a problem of the large oil glands present on the face, chest and back. It begins when the outlet to the oil gland (pore) is blocked due to hormonal factors. Use of heavy cosmetics and creams, which block the pores, may also trigger acne. It is advisable that one use non-comedogenic products. (Non-comedogenic is a term applied to oils, lotions, and skin creams that do not block pores).

These days we see ‘adult acne’ more frequently. One reason is the high glycemic index foods that cause a spike in our blood sugar. Recent evidence proves what people have always believed that diet does play a role in aggravating acne.
