Are there any specific skincare products I should avoid before or after laser skin resurfacing?
To prevent irritation and enhance healing after the laser skin resurfacing treatment, dermatologists may ask you to avoid the following:
- Avoid products containing retinoids 5–7 days before the treatment and 6 weeks after the treatment, or as prescribed by the dermatologist.
- Avoid AHAs, BHAs, and exfoliants, as they can cause excessive peeling and dryness after the treatment.
- Avoid harsh scrubs or active acne treatments like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid for at least a week after the treatment.
- Avoid facial or any parlour service in the treated area for about six weeks.
