I’m confused about why some of my pimples leave scars and others don’t. What causes acne scars to form in the first place?
Acne scars form due to abnormal collagen production after pimples subside. Picking or squeezing pimples worsens the skin condition and increases the risk of deep acne scars. Using home remedies or over-the-counter products without proper guidance can irritate already inflamed skin, potentially worsening breakouts and increasing the risk of recurring acne and long-term scarring. Moreover, cystic or nodular acne is more likely to scar. Timely acne control is key to preventing permanent scars. Seek a professional solution when all methods of self-care fail.
