Hi, I want to get botox injections for my wrinkles. Do they work? Can someone tell me everything about Botox and if they cause any side effects?
Botox is a brand name for injections of very small doses of botulinum toxin, a chemical derived form a bacteria named clostridium botulinum. This product can be injected in small facial muscles attached to the skin to relax them. This leads to reduction in dynamic wrinkles on the face which appear during expression and emotion on your face with age. The injection is quite painless and shows results within 1-2 weeks, with effects lasting 4-6 months, post which it can be repeated. Botox injections can also be done on lower face and neck for tightening. Side effects are very rare and can occur with inexperienced injectors with incorrect injection causing relaxation of unwanted muscles e.g., causing drooping of eyelid, though they are temporary.
