I have combination skin. My face is dry, but I have acne on my cheeks. Can chemical peels reduce acne on the face? Are they safe?

Chemical peel is a good option to treat acne and acne marks on face. The procedure consists of applying a peeling solution consisting of different concentrations of anti-acne and depigmenting fruit acids like glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid etc. on the affected area of skin and neutralising after a set time. Post procedure, the skin becomes and dry and starts exfoliating for a few days after which you can see improvement in acne and marks. However, your skincare should be meticulously followed to get maximum results from the peel as well as prevent any post procedure irritation or pigmentation. Please consult your dermatologist regarding what peel should be suitable for you and how many sessions you would require for result. He/she would likely prescribe you a suitable skincare regimen for your face. As acne is a multifactorial disease, he/she may also ask you to do blood tests and prescribe you medicines to take for curing the root problem and improving your results.
