I have a wart on my face that is becoming more prominent daily. Is there a permanent solution for warts without surgery?
Warts are an infective condition presenting with hard irregular growths on different body parts. The most used and effective treatment is radiofrequency or electrocautery in which a heated probe is used to vaporise the wart. It is a precise treatment which doesnot harm the surrounding skin and can prevent recurrence if done correctly. For your face wart, that is the treatment I would advise. Other destructive therapies include cryotherapy (where the wart is frozen with extreme cold), chemical cautery (where an acid is used to burn and destroy the wart, though it is a little imprecise and may not remove the wart fully) etc. In case of many small warts, topical preparations of tretinoin, salicylic acid, lactic acid can be applied at home regularly to slowly remove them. Another option is immunotherapy with injections of Vitamin D or different vaccines into the warts to trigger body immunity against them. Visit a dermatologist to know the procedure most suitable for you. Since warts are infective, removal is always the better method to treat, although recurrence at other sites can occur later as the virus remains in the body.
